ICARUS

Icarus thought that he would fly

Like a seagull in the sky.

He made some wings with wood and tacks,

And stuck the lot with sealing wax.

Then, climbing to a cliff top high

He launched himself into the sky.

He soared and swooped without a care,

He flapped and fluttered through the air.

Then, on a current he was lifted

And upwards through the clouds he drifted.

He did not think it such good fun

When Icarus felt the fiery sun.

Its burning rays shone on his back,

And melted all the sealing wax.

You should have heard the dreadful yell,

As down to earth poor Icarus fell.

The moral of this tale is clear:

Make sure you have the proper gear

If you go flying way up high,

Like a seagull in the sky,

Or you like Icarus will descend

And come to such a sticky end.
